In order to invest in many financial products, you must be a qualified sophisticated, or wholesale investor. Fortunately, becoming a qualified sophisticated investor is relatively simple.
You need to meet the eligibility threshold contained in the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) and, if you intend on investing less than AU$500,000, obtain a sophisticated investor certificate from your accountant evidencing your eligibility.
You need a certificate from your accountant, dated within the last six months, proving you meet the asset or income test. Otherwise, you can invest AU$500,000 or more to avoid the need for an accountant's certificate.
