Becoming a wholesale or sophisticated investor is a straightforward process. To qualify, you must meet the eligibility criteria outlined in the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth).

If you plan to invest less than AUD $500,000, you will need a certificate from a qualified accountant, confirming that you meet one of the following thresholds:

  • Asset Test: Net assets of AUD $2.5 million or more; or
  • Income Test: Annual income of AUD $250,000 or more for the last two financial years.

The accountant’s certificate must be dated within the last six months to be valid. Alternatively, if you invest AUD $500,000 or more, no accountant’s certificate is required.

To make the process easier, we provide a template accountant’s certificate for your accountant to complete.
